Texas has one of the biggest and most complex healthcare systems in the country. We’re home to the world-renowned Texas Medical Center in Houston, but at the same time, we struggle with access and coverage, especially in rural areas.
Millions of Texans don’t have health insurance, and many live in places where it’s hard to find a doctor or mental health provider. Rural hospitals are closing, and staffing shortages are hitting hard across the state.
But it’s not all bad news. Telehealth has become a lifeline for many, especially when it comes to mental health. There’s also growing momentum behind improving healthcare access and education, though big policy changes—like Medicaid expansion—are still a major topic of debate.
There’s a long road ahead, but with the right support and innovation, Texas has the potential to build a stronger, more inclusive healthcare system.
